I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to find a reliable capo for my 12-string acoustic guitar. Chris recommended that I use the Octave Touch / High Tension kit. I have fitted the 15" insert for my Alvarez 12-string. It is a match made in heaven. My guitar has a lovely low action and I have used the capo up to the 7th fret without any problem. No retuning required and the sound is just sooo tight. This guitar sings like a nightingale! Now to tackle the Beatles songbook!

I have used step capo on 12 strings and they work fine but are a bit difficult to align. The Thalia Octave promoted itself as finger-like… soft outside fir heavier strings and firm inside for the lighter… and that is just what it does… having the various radius choices helps… and I installed it in an existing Thalia…. I purchased the new high tension silicone octave touch to use on my Taylor 12 string and they work great, works great on 6 string so can move between guitars with ease, don’t buy less capo’s though I still must have one for every guitar

Many years ago I had a capo that - as capos often can - vanished into thin air. This particular capo (I couldn't for the life of me recall the brand) was a valued one because it worked on all of my instruments - a wide range of single- and double-course and varied neck radii - with only slight intonation issues.
Since then, I've bought countless capos of all varieties and many of them have done a reasonable job. However, none of them have been up to the task of handling my double-course instruments (12-string guitar and 10- and 8-string Irish bouzoukis). Some came close - a G7th one was the best in this regard - but, wrestling with it the way I had to to get everything to fret properly, intonation was always an issue.
Anyway, long story short, I'd recently done some long overdue work setting up my 1980s Ibanez M313 12-string and it was playing really nicely but I just couldn't get it working with any capo. So I got online and did some searching. I found the Thalia capos and thought I'd give them a go, ordering a Birdseye maple beauty with the usual 2 sets of 7-piece inserts.
After a few weeks of patiently waiting (in Australia) for the capo to arrive, it came, nicely packaged up and I set about trying out my new capo on all my instruments. Getting the radius insert right, I found the Thalia capo worked better than any capo I'd ever had before in terms of intonation - no adjusting of the thicker, low register strings to compensate for the tension of the capo. This was completely new for me: none of my previous capos (even the treasured early one I owned and lost) had been so good in this regard. So, stunning results straight up.
But...though the standard sets of inserts could handle the double courses of my bouzoukis with ease, they weren't up to the task of fretting the octave courses on the E, A and even D strings on my 12-string. As this was arguably the fundamental reason I'd gone in search of a new capo in the first place, I was naturally disappointed.
So, I got back on to the Thalia site to research further and I found the Octave Touch Hight Tension kit. Naturally, I ordered a kit straight away and then began another 'patient' wait...
And here's the other part of the story that made the waiting so worthwhile. Looking into things 12-string a bit further, I found myself exploring string tension. I've always been one for the lighter gauge string options but, as I did some more research, I found there were light gauge string options that were considerably lighter tension than the sets I'd been using. So, figuring this could only help the chances of the Octave Touch set working more effectively, I decided to change my strings and ordered a Plectrum Thomastik-Infeld light gauge set. I wasn't new to these (expensive) strings - for many years I'd strung them onto my 6-string guitars. I don't know why I stopped, but at some point I did. So, putting this set onto my 12-string felt, in some sense, like seeing (and hearing) an old friend again - absolutely gorgeous tone, so much easier to play...
And then the Octave Touch High Tension kit arrived and...I had a match made in heaven! All strings now fret perfectly with just the right pressure and, as a consequence, no matter where the capo is set, I have absolutely no intonation issues. Absolutely none. This was a rare experience for me on a 6-string guitar. It was completely unheard of on a 12-string.
My 40 year old guitar (which has spent many years in its case) has now taken up permanent residence on the couch where I can grab it and play whenever I want (with the Thalia capo permanently attached to the neck or headstock).
I now have a genuinely versatile capo that can handle all - and I mean all - of my instruments.

Very pleased with this product.So far has worked out great for my 12 strings.I have a lot of money tied up in my guitars,so the less pressure I have to apply to the necks,the better I feel.These inserts solve that problem.I'm sure the rubber ones are good too,but haven't tried them yet.I decided to skip the rest and go for the best.Will be picking up a set of standard tension octave touch in the future.I also love the fact that you can buy inserts as singles too.Thank you Thalia Capos for another quality product.
